The Fitzpatrick scale enables to classify the different types of skin:

  • A very pale skin never tans, or very hardly and systematically burns. 
  • Fair skin tans with difficulty and usually burns. 
  • Olive skin sometimes mild burns and tans gradually. 
  • Mate skin rarely burns and tans with ease. 
  • Dark skin very rarely burns and tans very easily. 
  • Ebony skin never burns and tans very easily"
